1 John 4:1-21 KJV

[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. [2] Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: [3] and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. [4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. [5] They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. [6] We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. [7] Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. [8] He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. [9] In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. [10] Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. [11] Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. [12] No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. [13] Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. [14] And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. [15] Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. [16] And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. [17] Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. [18] There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. [19] We love him, because he first loved us. [20] If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? [21] And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Note for 20241229

We have looked at what love is in 1 Corinthians 13, and know what that love is that we should have for one another. First and foremost, we must test if that love is in us. How can we recognise what love is, if it is not in us first? And now we know where love comes from, and that the opposite of that stems from an anti-Christ spirit. This world has done its best to redefine love and has been successful to deceive many. Love is not lust after the flesh, which this world promoted broadly. It is not defined by who you love and who you hate. This world, especially of late, has blurred the lines of morality, given ear to abominations and spoke well of what is evil. Truly, it has called evil good and will call good, evil. Take divorce as just one example, not only has it become acceptable, this world has made it profitable. Is that love? Robbing someone whom you claimed to have loved?

1 John 4:1 KJV

[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.4.1.KJV

Now, I have taken an extreme example of trying a spirit to see if it is of GOD. Do you remember Ephesians 6? How, “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood?” Which spirit is it then that is coming at you? Better yet, and far more prudent; in which spirit do you respond? Are we not to love our enemies, is that not written too? Now if hate comes at you, and you respond in hate, then only hate exists in that moment. But, if you respond in love, then love can cover a multitude of sins. Then there is love. Then there is hope, if that love is in Truth.

The thing about the Truth is that it is not dependent on debate. Truth exists within itself, that it is true. All that investigation can do is to discover the truth, but the truth existed even before it was discovered. Truth does not come in by reason, it simply is what it is. Any modification, whether it be a justification or an excuse, only places a lie in the place where once the truth stood. Love is the same, and is defined by love itself. All other forms are some sort of substitutes that stand in the stead thereof, which is not love at all. It cannot be love if it is covered with a lie.

GOD is love, and the Truth is of GOD. If you stand for the Truth, then it will include the Truth that a lie has deceived many after that which is not the Truth or Love at all. There is no love in deception, it only serves self interest. It is the veil that has been placed over the truth so a lie may be believed instead of the truth. Herein can we know that this world does not know love, nor truth; for it holds on to a lie and seeks all that it seeks in self-interest. The world is a “for-profit” thing, while love is an all giving thing. GOD gave His only begotten Son in love, so we may live, and in love did Jesus Christ go to that cross and suffer the penalty of sin, while He was without blame.

Did Christ not say that we must love one another even as He loved us? But, man stands up for himself and throws his neighbour under the bus. “Try the spirits, if they be of GOD,” even that which is at work within yourself. Are you capable of that? In love, can you consider first what your own intentions are, before you mow your brother down? First deal with the beam in your own eye, so you can see clearly, before you attempt to remove a splinter from your brother’s eye.

If love is established in us in truth, then we are of GOD. Then God will be with us, and with God comes both love and truth. Then, we will never come short of either, for we will be the vessels of it, having it with us wherever we go.

In closing then, I bring your attention to the last section of this verse…

1 John 4:1 KJV

[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.4.1.KJV

Where do false prophets go out from, into the world? And who is a false prophet? Why should we try the spirits, and how is it compared in a single verse to false prophets? Can Ephesians 6 be ignored then? Do we need the whole armour of GOD in everyday life then, knowing now, that we face off against evil spirits, who are the spirits that lead the false witnesses out into the world? If you make a man your enemy, then you miss the real enemy. Then you are misled, and those Trojan horses, which direct the unprotected flesh, can come at you, and you will have no defense. And if you respond in kind in hate, then have you left a breach in the hedge of your protection. Then the city gates stand wide open, for you work by the forces of the enemy. Then, is the city at risk, and dare I say, maybe even overrun by enemy forces.

Considering all of this, is it then not a miracle that we may still know moments of peace? My friends, that is GOD’S protection standing for you. That is what it is to be blessed and kept by GOD. So we know that we are still in a period of grace and mercy.

Staying in the example that was used, we have to fortify the city walls. We have to mend the breaches and secure every port into the city. The hedge of protection must stand tall, and that only happens when we bring love into the city walls and keep it in truth. If God is for us, who can be against us, for the heavens will stand in defense of us, if we have become the dwelling place of GOD.

Do you now understand why we must purify ourselves, for GOD is pure? Do you now understand that we must become holy, for GOD is HOLY? Do you now understand why we must know love and remain in love, for GOD is Love. If we love one another, then love is in us. And love is charity and charity is love. Love does not lack care or compassion, but gladly gives a gift freely.

So have we now come to the time where the truth will be revealed in us, by the Truth that is in GOD, for GOD is in us, Who gave us of His Holy Spirit to dwell with us, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. The only Begotten Son of GOD, that He sent for exactly this purpose. To undo the works of the enemy, even those works of the enemy he performed in us. That we may be purified by the Love of GOD and the enemy be expelled, that there will no longer be a foothold in us.

Selah, Shalom

1 John 3:1-24 KJV

[1] Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. [2] Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. [3] And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. [4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. [5] And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. [6] Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. [7] Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. [8] He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. [9] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. [10] In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. [11] For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. [12] Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. [13] Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. [14] We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. [15] Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. [16] Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. [17] But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? [18] My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. [19] And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. [20] For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. [21] Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. [22] And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. [23] And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. [24] And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Note for 20241228

This morning, I am somewhat out of sorts. It is as if a veil has fallen from my eyes. The LORD said unto me, “Speak the full truth.” Now, I thought that I was, and yet, I now know that there was some that I was withholding, because I considered that it would be too much for people to receive it. I repent of that. Now, at this time, I understand that it is crucial to make known that which GOD has revealed to me.

Read here in this chapter what is required in love for one another. And… What is hate, as John compares it to the actions of Cain? One who is constantly belittling his fellow man, has not the love of GOD in him. One who is constantly “making” others wrong, that he appears “right,” the love of God is not in him. By their fruit shall you know them.

Now, that is all good to consider inwardly, but neither should we make ourselves guilty of these things in consideration. If the heart convicts, GOD is greater than the heart of man. In judgement of others, we judge ourselves. If we know enough to judge another, and we are guilty of the same, then have we passed judgment on ourselves by that which we spoke out over another. It is thus better to bridle the tongue, and bring all matters before the Lord our GOD, Who is the Judge of all. Unrestrained, man moves by a love of self, and seeks gain for his own kingdom here on earth. The question we have to ask ourselves in honesty is this: “Am I like that?” What does this chapter say about purifying oneself?

Friends, the time has come for the training wheels to come off. Enough slumber and sleep, each must find his foundation in Christ himself. Is it not written that we must work out our salvation with the Lord in fear and trembling? How can we say the love of God is in us, and permit our neighbour to starve to death? Do we murmur in ourselves against our fellow man? Do we judge some as less deserving of the charity of GOD? Are we not all passing through the valley of the shadow of death, here where our mortal bodies are at risk of plague and injury? What does the Psalmist write, “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil…” and yet, do we not fear, when we “protect” ourselves from everyone? Is our trust then in the LORD? When do we become the Oasis in the wilderness, where life giving water can be found?

I know, these statements here require a knowledge of the Word of GOD, and yet, he that is filled with the Holy Spirit of GOD, the Spirit in him will confirm the Word. He that has an ear to hear, will hear. Don’t you know that salvation is something between you and God, no one but Christ can intercede for you in that. And still among us do we have those that seek the advice of men, because of a lack of trust in GOD. This is a truth that I must face within myself, that I will bow my knee to the Most High GOD, and not in some way become a god unto myself. It is good to remember that we are saved by the Grace of GOD alone. By His Love for us, so are we redeemed. But he that walks in sin, with excuse and justification, deceives himself. Then, the enemy is within. It is almost as if man has come to love his captor, for we struggle not against flesh and blood.

We all fall short of the Glory of GOD, but Christ Jesus does not. He alone is worthy, in all of Creation, to open the seals of the scroll. None other can be found. And in Christ, are we saved from death and brought into life.

Don’t you know that those that are struggling within themselves are fighting an unseen enemy? Where then is our compassion for one another, did we not face the same struggle in us? Do we forget the thoughts and feelings that kept us up at night, that made things confusing as we walked about in sunlight, and how what we said and did had an outcome other than what we intended? Did we not all feel misunderstood at some point in time, and erroneously come to the conclusion that the fault is in others? That will harbour something like resentment, that is the breeding room for hate. When we move by our carnal minds and hearts, we can be assured, things will not go right. For what is carnal stands in enmity with GOD. Yes, that is where the fight for survival springs forth from, even the need to be right and come in first. It lacks the compassion to consider dying for the sake of a friend. It must survive, for it fears death. That is man, in his fallen state. In fear to meet his Maker. Hiding in the bushes, with leaves to cover his nakedness, for he is ashamed.

In Christ, we have an advocate at the Right Hand of GOD upon His Throne. One, Who walked upon the earth as we do. One, Who experienced the death of a friend, and Wept in compassion for the mourning of His friends. One, Who in earshot of the Most High GOD, prayed: “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”

As ambassadors of the Kingdom of GOD, it will serve us well to remember what we ourselves were saved from. That we may know to shine our light in Christ in darkness, and bring hope to those found in hopelessness. That we can reach out to comfort those who find themselves in distress. Giving glory to God always, that He is willing and able to save all that believe and trust in Him. Yeshua, GOD saves. It is in the Name of our Messiah. GOD saves, so pray to our Father in Heaven, for He can perform a miracle to bring us out of Egypt (our captivity.) Sure, we might have to travel through the wilderness, but He will never leave nor forsake us. He will be with us in that wilderness and bring us all the way through to the promised land in victory.

Shalom

1 John 2:1-29 KJV

[1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: [2] and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our’s only, but also for the sins of the whole world. [3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. [4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [5] But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. [6] He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. [7] Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. [8] Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. [9] He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. [10] He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. [11] But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. [12] I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. [13] I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. [14] I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. [15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. [18] Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. [19] They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. [20] But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. [21] I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. [22] Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. [23] Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. [24] Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. [25] And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. [26] These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. [27] But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. [28] And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. [29] If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

Note for 20241227

What Abides in You?

When we read from 1 John here, we read of faith in action. It comes down to what abides in us, whether it be the Truth or the lies of this world. Note how this world makes it’s bold statements against the Word of GOD, they always give some other explanation than that we have heard from GOD. John defines here what the spirit of anti-Christ is, and more alarming, how even then, he wrote that it is the “last time.” He explains that the Light has come into the world. Truly, people now choose to live in light or darkness, for the Light in Christ is available to us who believe in Christ. By our choices, how we live in word and deed, determines whether we are of darkness or light. By their fruit shall you know them. If you love Jesus Christ, then will you obey His commandments and love one another.

1 John 2:27 KJV

[27] But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.2.27.KJV

Man is led by what is in him, do you understand? If the flesh and the lusts of it rules in you, then that is what you love. We submit to what we love; if Light, then light; if it be darkness, then darkness.

And now for the hard words: If we claim that the light is in us, but we show the fruit of the world, then have we become liars and the Truth is not in us. If we stand for ourselves at the cost of another, then do we not obey Christ. The Spirit within each one will either be for Christ or anti-Christ. To do wickedness, is to refuse the instruction of the Word of GOD, which is Christ.

However there is this hope for those who believe but still experience weakness and it comes from verse 1 and 2 in this chapter: “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

The dividing line is thus in love and hate. Now, what is this love that is spoken of, even as we remember that those that trespass against us have forgiveness in Christ too. For that, it is best to consult the Word of GOD, as we find it written for us by Paul in 1 Corinthians 13, inspired by the Holy Spirit that testifies the Truth of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 KJV

[1] Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. [2] And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. [3] And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. [4] Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, [5] doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; [6] rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; [7] beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. [8] Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. [9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. [10] But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. [11] When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. [12] For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. [13] And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

https://bible.com/bible/1/1co.13.1-13.KJV

Man has erroneously coupled this scripture up as the kind of love that must be between a man and a woman, but the text clearly identifies that it is the love that must be in us. As Christ died for us, He died for the sin of this world. Which means, that when we view, outwardly, mankind, that love of Christ, that suffered for the sin of mankind, must remain in us. If it is then in us, why would we stand for condemnation when our Lord suffered for the forgiveness of the sin of mankind? Our struggle is not against flesh and blood. And darkness is overthrown by the Light of the Love of GOD. When we repay evil for evil, then the Light is not in us, but have we become part of that darkness.

Here, in the very last time of the era of man on earth, we must work to bring the perfection of Christ in us. So is the truth revealed, that the wicked will choose darkness for themselves, condemning themselves. We do not have to bring accusations or judgments, for those that stand in the spirit of anti-Christ condemns themselves by their refusal of Christ and the rebellion and hate in their hearts.

What love (or charity) does, is to forgive and to hope for all things good and righteous. To reach into the fire and draw out from it, those that can come to repentance. For the truly wicked cannot repent. Saved, means that you have been saved from something. That something is that which would have taken you to refuse the gift of Christ that brings life to the dead. So we preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so those who can hear the voice of the Lord will hear it in a dark night, and come into the light, following the voice of the Good Shepherd which they know. If they do not know His voice they will not follow Him. Then they will refuse and hate. We speak the Words of Life, only those who know the Word can follow it. A stranger cannot comprehend the love of Christ, for he knows only a love of self. So, as we speak the Word of Truth, we trust in the Word of GOD, that the Word will draw unto Himself all that the Father has given Him. But if we do not speak, then, the Word of GOD is not heard, how then shall they follow what they haven’t heard?

So, in love, brothers and sisters in Christ, testify for Jesus Christ in Word and Deed, showing the love of Christ as a beacon in the Night. For Christ died for the sin of the world, His own will hear His voice. It is Christ in us, that the sheep of Christ will recognize. If we then walk with masks in this world to obscure who we are in Christ, then have we placed the light under a cover, and the Light of the Truth can not be witnessed and followed. That is not love, no! Love lets the Light of Christ shine in us to bring light to this dark world. For that cause do we live for righteousness, not for our Salvation because our Salvation came by Christ, even as we recognized His Light in someone who permitted His Light to shine through them.

Faith, hope and charity; which will we permit to work in us?

Shalom

1 John 1:1-10 KJV

[1] That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; [2] (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) [3] that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. [4] And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. [5] This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. [6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: [7] but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Note for 20241226

When we talk about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you do not ordinarily associate the letters of the Apostles as part of that. They are known as the Epistles of the Apostles. What we sit with in truth is the Testimony of those that witness for Christ Jesus. And as John opens this letter, that is pretty much what he writes.

In the Book of Revelation, we read how John was instructed to write on what had happened, what is (at the time he was living) and what was to come, which was revealed to Him on the Isle in Patmos. Now, we have read through the Book of Revelations, and the link to that series can be found on my website at www.thehouseofbread.co.za

In fact, since we have read the Book of Revelations that was written by John, all that we have read since is in response to what we have learned in Revelations. We are looking at how we may become a part of those that will be able to enter into the city of GOD that descends out of the New Heaven onto the New Earth as described to us by John in Revelation 21. That journey has been recorded in voice notes and is available on SoundCloud, the links to all these Playlists are available on the above-mentioned website, and on our blog. But you do not need all that if you have the Bible, and less so, if you are filled with the Holy Spirit of GOD. Just pray to God and ask Him to reveal to you what He has measured out for you to know. Ask on the Name of Jesus Christ, for Christ said, no one goes unto the Father except by Him.

Today we look at darkness and light. We read how we call GOD a liar, if we contradict what is in the Word of GOD. Then we stand on dangerous ground before the Throne of GOD. He that says that he has not sinned is a liar, and the Word of GOD is not in him. He is then in the darkness and not in the light of Jesus Christ. No! We confess our sin before God, Who is faithful and just to forgive us our sin, and to clean us from all unrighteousness. This chapter lays it out quite clearly.

Can we look at it in a simple form? If you cannot admit that you have sinned, then what is there to forgive? In you, you will not even consider that you need forgiveness, because somehow you have made what is wrong in you, right in your own eyes. When we admit our fault, we know what we bring before the Lord for forgiveness. If not, why would we ask for forgiveness at all; because then, we ourselves have judged it to be blameless. Then, instead of coming before the Judge of mankind, we consider ourselves righteous enough to make that judgment in ourselves. Then we think we do not have to bring it before the LORD, because there is nothing wrong with what we did. Hence, no admission of guilt and no repentance; thus, do we then stand in darkness, blind and deceived. This plays out in real time around us all the time, where we can observe this behaviour, and hopefully learn the error of our way. We don’t apologise for something where we judge ourselves to stand in what is right. Then we expect an apology from the other party, not? But who determines what is right and wrong? Who sets the boundaries of good and evil in our lives? Yes, it is supposed to be The Word of GOD, but then we still have to deal with interpretation. The Word of GOD reveals to us that we all stand in error, all of us have sinned against one another and against GOD. He that thinks of himself that he is a “good man,” judging himself more righteous than all others. That is pride, my friends. Jesus stated that there is none good but GOD, even speaking against someone that called Him good. GOD is good, and He is Righteous. To say anything other is to call Christ a liar.

At this point, I estimate that there might be some shifting around in their seats. Maybe a few will want to correct me in this matter and bring vast amounts of words to debate. But how do you get around this chapter in 1 John 1?

Now here is the beauty and the wonder of something relatively simple, and yet, so complex to come to the understanding thereof. When we reach the point when we can admit that we are sinners, we reach the place where the mercy and grace of GOD can work towards our Salvation. For one, then we stand in agreement with the Word of GOD. Then we stand in a place where we can admit our sin and repent of it, and in Christ there is forgiveness for the sin of mankind, for He died for sinners like you and me. Now that is established in understanding, I hope.

But then we must remain in that light that exposes the truth of us. We cannot then walk off into darkness again. When we are washed clean of our sin, then must we continue on without sin. If we have just been bathed, we cannot jump straight back into the mud again. There must remain in us that hope to remain clean, and that is by obeying the instruction of the LORD. To walk in the light, we strive for righteousness as defined by the Word of GOD and not by the justifications of our own carnal minds. To apply excuses is to cover up our wrong and to hide it once more again. So, as we find error, we come before the LORD and admit our sin. Repentance is to walk away from sin and towards righteousness. We should not call that which is good evil, and that which is evil good; is that not written too? The forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ is a salvation, not immunity. Sin is not without an account that must be paid. Payment is due. Now for sin, Christ paid the price by His sacrifice upon the cross. Shall we then crucify Christ over and over again?

As Kingdom representatives, we must remember Who we represent to the world of the Kingdom of GOD. We are called by the Name of Jesus Christ. So, we cannot go around as if we have diplomatic immunity but rather show the righteousness of Christ to all. So do we walk by the Spirit and live by the Holy Spirit. Which also means that we obey the instruction of the Lord our GOD. When we fail, and we will from time to time, then is there forgiveness for us in Jesus Christ. But, if we live in sin, then our own lives testify that Christ is not in us. Understand? We cannot live our lives as we did before we were saved by Christ. A change must come in us, that represents the Kingdom to which we were joined in Jesus Christ. If we are then as the world, then we are still part of the world. If as Christ, then of Christ.

In Jesus Christ your sin is forgiven. Go, then, and sin no more.

Shalom

John 21:1-25 KJV

[1] After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself. [2] There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. [3] Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. [4] But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. [5] Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. [6] And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. [7] Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. [8] And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. [9] As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. [10] Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. [11] Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. [12] Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. [13] Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise. [14] This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead. [15] So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. [16] He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. [17] He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. [18] Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. [19] This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. [20] Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? [21] Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? [22] Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. [23] Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? [24] This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. [25] And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

Note for 20241225

Do You Love Jesus?

Then, feed His Sheep. Matthew 25:40 comes into full effect here for the followers of Christ. “Whatsoever ye have done unto the least of these, my brethren, ye have done unto Me.” We are here to feed the flock of Christ and by preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, to bring into the flock, those who belong to Christ. So we share with one another, that which came by the Holy Spirit of GOD, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Christ said that the Holy Spirit will show us of things to come, and remind us of what Christ said. That we would do greater works than He because He goes to His Father that is Greater than Him. He said that if we love Him, that we would obey His commandments, and love one another, even as He loved us. Feeding one another has both a Spiritual and physical element, even as we take communion in remembrance of Him; and here in the text, His disciples sit down to dine with Him. To be partakers of Christ, and stand in service of one another.

Today marks the end of our reading in the book of John and I received my confirmation that we will look at the epistles of John next as part of his testimony of Jesus Christ. While we read on, remembering, that John is that disciple whom Jesus loved, whom Peter is referring to, when He questions Christ about what would become of him. Today we know that John went all the way to the isle of Patmos, where he was exiled for His Testimony of Jesus Christ.

There is another thing to learn here, and that is the intent of Christ with someone else is up to Christ, and not us. So Jesus answered Peter, “If I will that he tarry till I come what is it to thee.” Which brings things into a sharp focus for those who care to listen and hear. The LORD is the Lord of the resurrection. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the LORD of our Salvation, and He knows what the Way is, for each of us, unto that everlasting life that we are promised in Him. He is thus, the LORD of our Salvation. Of mine, and of yours. What is needed for our Salvation, He shall bring, even if it comes by the hand of a stranger. It is important that we follow the Lord Jesus Christ, that we obey His commandments. As He gives to us, He gives from what He knows of us. We must not take on some “messiah-complex” thinking that we have somehow become man’s saviours. It remains Christ that saves, we are His servants and obey His voice. He gives the direction, we obey. We do not lead, we follow Him. If we keep our focus on Him, and we follow Him; then there might just be a chance that those that follow us might be saved too. Our hope is in this, that somewhere in time, those that follow us can remove their eyes from us and follow Him. So, if we fail, they do not fail with us. Where we fall short, they might prevail.

Here, I feed you, His sheep, from what I received of Him. But, my hope is that you will be fed from the source of Life, that you may feed the flock of Christ too. For there is much labour to be done, and the workers are few. There are many that are thrusting for the life-giving water we receive of Christ,by the Holy Spirit of GOD, that was sent in His Name.

So has this become a mindset in me, that I trust Jesus Christ every bit as much to save you, as I trust Him to save me. He is the Saviour, I am just His helper. A servant that lives Him. And by the Love that GOD has placed in me, I am able to love those that He made.

In this little time dilation that we have here, today is Christmas as I write here. But this message will only reach most of you, a day or more from here. Aayou spend time with those GOD gave you on this day, remember that they are God’s first. Treat one another with the love of God, for so did GOD love us, that He sent His only Begotten Son, to die for us that we may live. Treat each other then in such a way that promotes life in all.

May GOD be with you, may He Bless and Keep you.

Shalom

John 20:1-31 KJV

[1] The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. [2] Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. [3] Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. [4] So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. [5] And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. [6] Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, [7] and the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. [8] Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. [9] For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. [10] Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. [11] But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, [12] and seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. [13] And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. [14] And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. [15] Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. [16] Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. [17] Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. [18] Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her. [19] Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. [20] And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. [21] Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. [22] And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: [23] whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. [24] But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. [25] The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. [26] And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. [27] Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. [28] And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. [29] Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. [30] And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: [31] but these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Note for 20241224

There are many that have looked to the cross for salvation, but the strength of the cross comes from the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the manifestation of life after death of the flesh, that Christ has overcome death. We lay sin to death, that is in the flesh; but know that the soul will escape death, through Christ Jesus.

Through the resurrection, after the Temple was broken down, Christ rebuilt it in just three days. And when He appears to Mary Magdalene at the site of the grave in the garden, He says this to her.

John 20:17 KJV

[17] Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.20.17.KJV

There is something to be understood, and that is that the Spirit and the flesh will be separated. The flesh as we know it will cease, and a glorified form will be taken up, even as the form that Christ took here as He appears to Mary. When Christ spoke with Mary when Lazarus lay in the grave, He said to her that He is the resurrection. Elsewhere it is written that Christ is the first fruit of the resurrection; and if then the first, then we know that there will be more. And that will be us who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. We will be resurrected too on the last day. So Christ says here to Mary, “I ascend to My Father, and your Father; and to My God and your GOD.” Showing us the Way. It makes me think of the words of that old Christian song, “an empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives.”

How fitting is it then, that here at Christmas time, we are taken through the death and resurrection of our Lord Saviour Jesus Christ. Almost as if it is yet another testimony that He is both the Beginning and the End. The remarkable fact is that the pace of our reading is inspired by the Holy Spirit, meaning this was well intended to be a testimony in itself. We look at the life of Jesus Christ here on earth, from His beginning here at birth to His end here on earth, at the same time. We celebrate the life of Christ, and now we know that it is eternal, just as is promised to us.

On the long count, as we approach the third day since the resurrection of Christ Jesus, may He raise us in the third day, as He himself rose on the third day? May He appear again unto us, on this third day, as it appears that even the Wicked are preparing themselves for prophecy to come into fulfillment. It amazes me, that those who do not read or know the Word of GOD, do the things that are written of in the Word of GOD at this time. One of these days to come, will be as the last day spoken of for so long, when we will be caught up in the air to Christ, to be with Him. And on that is our hope pinned, that we may be with Christ where He is, as He is. Yes, we Hope and Believe unto our complete redemption back unto the Lord our GOD, even our Father in Heaven. May our lives glorify both the Father and the Son, by the Holy Spirit that dwells within.

Shalom

John 19:1-42 KJV

[1] Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. [2] And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, [3] and said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands. [4] Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. [5] Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! [6] When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. [7] The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. [8] When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; [9] and went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer. [10] Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? [11] Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. [12] And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Cæsar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Cæsar. [13] When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. [14] And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! [15] But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cæsar. [16] Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. [17] And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: [18] where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst. [19] And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. [20] This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. [21] Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. [22] Pilate answered, What I have written I have written. [23] Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. [24] They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. [25] Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. [26] When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! [27] Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. [28] After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. [29] Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. [30] When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. [31] The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. [32] Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. [33] But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: [34] but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. [35] And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. [36] For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. [37] And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. [38] And after this Joseph of Arimathæa, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. [39] And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. [40] Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. [41] Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. [42] There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

Note for 20241223

Today, for me, it is the 23rd of December 2024, but for many of you, receiving this message, you will receive it on the 25th. How wonderful is it, that on the day that man exchanges gifts with one another, this is the message that will go out? That, The King of the Jews, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, died upon the cross, that man can live; all that believe on Him and upon His Name.

Jesus was born for this purpose, to take away the sin of mankind, that they may be redeemed back to GOD. But, man stood for murder. You know, I can almost see in my mindseye how those who shouted for Him to be crucified rioted in the public spaces. Is that not how man still makes his demands to the government today? Most recently, we have seen this type of behaviour, regarding the conflict in the Middle East, and also for xenophobia, where strangers have come into the cities of the people and crime has become more rampant. In my head it turns about the lawless men. I wonder if this is how the men rioted outside the door of Lot’s House, so they may “know” the angels that were with him. I have no heart to stand in rebellion, or to riot in the street. My petition is made to the Throne of GOD Almighty, in the Name of Jesus Christ, and The LORD knows my heart. That man will repent before the Lord our Saviour, of their wicked self interest and the hate and rage in their hearts. That they may receive Salvation and enter into the peace of GOD and find their rest in Jesus Christ.

Do you know my name? In Hebrew it would be, Mattit’YAHU Yochanan. In English, it is Matthew John and in my home language of Afrikaans, it is Mathys Johannes. Matthew means, “Gift of GOD” and John, “Grace of GOD.” What I bring to you then this day, is the Gracious Gift of GOD, The Word of GOD, Jesus Christ of Nazareth whose birthday is celebrated at this time. Here in the scripture today, you can read what He suffered through, that you may live forever. The prophecy about Him went out, before He was born in the flesh. It was known at His birth, for which cause the wisemen of the East followed the sign in heaven to come to pay Him tribute, and the Heavenly choir sang in the heavens, by the witness of shepherds in the field at night. This is the Christ that was born unto us, to take away the sin of mankind. His crucifixion was man’s response.

Right before the cross, Jesus gives his mother to John for care, and John to his mother for a son, with Mary Magdalene standing witness. Even as He hung on the cross, He portrayed the principle of substitute. There He hung and died, instead of me and you.

May GOD Almighty, our Father in Heaven be Glorified in this forever, that He gave His Son, Jesus Christ in our stead as the Eternal Sacrifice for Sin and Death. Hallelujah, may all who have breath call upon His Name and be saved.

Shalom

Luke 2:9-14 KJV

[9] And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. [10] And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. [11] For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. [12] And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. [13] And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, [14] Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men.

John 18:28-40 KJV

[28] Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. [29] Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man? [30] They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee. [31] Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: [32] that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die. [33] Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? [34] Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? [35] Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? [36] Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. [37] Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. [38] Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. [39] But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews? [40] Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.18.28-40.KJV

Note for 20241222

I know it seems like a strange title, but hear me. In essence, the Jews traded off Jesus, their Messiah, for Barabbas the robber. There is an element here that points to the scapegoat we read of in the Law, on which they would lay their hands to place their sin on it, and send it to the wilderness for Azazel.

Here we have a robber, Barabbas, in the stocks, whom they request to be freed instead of Jesus, The Christ. All, while they do not enter into the court, for fear of defilement, that would prevent them from partaking in the current feasts of that time, of passover and unleavened bread. Truly, The Lamb of GOD, was sacrificed at the proper time, that His Blood may stand, eternally, for the passover of all that would believe in Him. Christ literally took the place of Barabbas on this day, for he went free; while Christ went to the cross, where yet another robber was freed. Barabbas was set free, but the robber on the cross was promised to enter into the Paradise of GOD with Christ for his belief in Jesus Christ. This brings in the concept of substitution, Christ Jesus, The Son of GOD, for sinners like us.

When Pilate asks Jesus out, whether He is the King of the Jews, His first response is this…

John 18:34 KJV

[34] Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.18.34.KJV

Pilate interrogates Christ, for the Jews said that their law does not permit them to put a man to death. Instead, they convince another of murder, thinking that this would keep their hands clean of His blood. Maybe, it was by design, for not even in assault could they claim to have the blood of Christ in them. No, instead, just like their father Satan, they convince another to do the crime. Today we know, that even Pilate washed his hands of this act, that the blood of Christ can return on them. If they could repent, then would they be forgiven.

I know, it seems to be a lot to consider; and believe me, there is more. And this, as we are on approach to the day this world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Though I do not personally stand for this date, by it, and by the celebrations of Christmas, none can say they know not of the Name, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. They exchange gifts to commemorate the birth of Christ, the message of it is everywhere to be seen. Even the godless knows of it, who Christ Jesus is. By this feast then, they know.

This brings us back to this verse:

John 18:34 KJV

[34] Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.18.34.KJV

It raises a question again, which I have asked before. Who is Christ Jesus to you? Is He someone that you have heard about, by the accounts of others; or, sayest thou this thing of thyself? Do you know? Is it a truth that is confirmed within your soul? Something that is with you each and every day, not just one or two days a year.

Would I prevent Christmas if I could? My answer is from what I personally received by the Spirit. To permit the people a little joy, for they are sore oppressed in this world. If they bring honor to the Most High GOD, and our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in it; then let such honor be to GOD. But, if they celebrate for other reasons, or are joyful in gifts alone, the gain (or profit) they make at this time; then, do they themselves make a declaration for their soul.

When Jesus asked His disciples who they say that He is, Peter responded that He is the Son of GOD. Upon this rock, He said, I will build my church and that is The Father that has revealed it to them.

So, we can speak on those things that we have heard others speak of, much as you are hearing or reading my words here. But, the Truth can only be manifested in you by the LORD our GOD, by His Spirit that dwells with us. There is then a difference between, “I have heard” and “I believe.”

We cannot say for certain that Pilate believed, but he did wash his hands and put the proclamation in written text on the cross of Christ, “The King of the Jews.”

I have heard, and I believe. What’s more, it is confirmed in me, that I may know. As we celebrate the birth of Christ then, let us also remember what He was born for. To go to that cross, and give up His life for us. To take our place, by way of substitution, that He, being without blame, died for us, who have blame, so that we may live. Let this Christmas not be about the gifts that you exchange, though you are permitted to give freely; but that the gift we receive is the gift Christ gave upon the cross. Let that be the gift we receive, that we may have Salvation unto eternal life with Him.

Shalom

John 18:1-27 KJV

[1] When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples. [2] And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples. [3] Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. [4] Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? [5] They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. [6] As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. [7] Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. [8] Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way: [9] that the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none. [10] Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. [11] Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? [12] Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him, [13] and led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year. [14] Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. [15] And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple: that disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest. [16] But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. [17] Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not. [18] And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals; for it was cold: and they warmed themselves: and Peter stood with them, and warmed himself. [19] The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine. [20] Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. [21] Why askest thou me? ask them which heard me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said. [22] And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so? [23] Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me? [24] Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest. [25] And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not. [26] One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? [27] Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.18.1-27.KJV

Note for 20241221

There is a difference between the betrayal of Judas and the denial of Peter; for one, Peter did not give up his Lord to His enemies. Peter did not work with the enemy, but hid himself from identifying himself as a disciple of Christ before the enemy. Besides that, Jesus said that he would deny him three times before the cock crowed, and he did. Of Judas, did the Lord not say unto him “what thou must do, do quickly?” From other accounts, we know that Peter wept bitterly after denying the LORD, and the cock crew. Judas however, took the coins of silver he was given and threw it on the floor before those whom he betrayed Jesus to, and hung himself. Such different outcomes. Of Judas, Christ said that one of his disciples is a devil, and to Peter the Lord said, “get behind me Satan” when he attempted to stop Christ from going up to Jerusalem to die. From the carnal mind did Peter speak, because of his love for the Lord, but Judas, he loved money and was a thief. It is for money that he betrayed the Lord, just as he showed upset when the nard oil was poured out on Jesus. The Lord said, that you cannot serve two masters, you cannot serve Christ and Mammon, for you will love one and hate the other.

If we look at the happenings here at the High Priest’s house, without remembering what else we have read, these happenings may seem somewhat random. You see, Peter had zeal for the LORD, is it not written that he even walked to Christ on the water? Is it not to Peter that Christ said, “upon this rock will I build my church,” when Peter confessed that Christ was the Son of GOD? Yet, to Judas Iscariot, he said to haste with what he had to do.

Now, we cannot know in full, for we were not there to witness what happened, we have only the accounts of the disciples that were written for us. Neither can we be in the mind of any. But, we can test ourselves against what we have, which is the Word that was kept for us to read. Where in our lives might it be that we have denied or betrayed the Lord Jesus Christ? Will we weep and repent, or shall we give ourselves over to death? Are we seeking to profit from the Lord, or are we willing to be humble servants? Is it not wise to consider why you are following anything or anyone? Shall motives not be tried and tested? Is it not written, to try every spirit if it be of GOD? Even when we are to draw the sword or to keep it in the sheath. Acting from the carnal mind or heart may leave us open to act in error. Is it possible for man to live in prayer? To remain in the Spirit, and test all things by the Spirit?

I was just led to read a message from Phillip, my brother in Christ. Friends, the Holy Spirit is ministering unto the Children of GOD in Unison. The topic of today is betrayal. Now, do you remember Matthew 25:40 yet? What you have done to the least of these my brethren, ye have done unto me. Should we then betray one another, or love one another as Christ loved us. Paul speaks on this, that a man may die for a good man or a friend, but Christ died for us while we were sinners. Sure enough, we read in the book of Revelation, that the Book of Life was written before the foundations of the earth was set. Yes, we look at the Kingdom viewpoint of eternity, and now we know that time was given to man, but GOD stands in eternity. A Higher Dimension, even the Highest. So, Christ Who Came from His Father in Heaven, knew all things; of what has been, what is and what is to come. He says of Himself that He is the Beginning and the End. He is the Word of GOD and the Light of men.

Judas knew Christ and yet he betrayed Him, just as Satan knew GOD and sought to make himself equal to GOD. Peter had zeal for Christ, He loved Christ, but lacked knowledge and understanding. Peter’s heart was for Christ, while Judas had his eye on the money bag.

By their fruit shall you know them, those that live for profit only, and will sell their mother if the price is right. The seed of the woman (as per Genesis 3:15) has the capacity to feel ashamed and repent before the LORD, while the seed of the serpent stands in open rebellion. They refrain from repentance, they hold onto their evil acts and seek to justify themselves. Making all kinds of excuses, why what they have done is not sin. But the believer admits his sin, repents and asks God’s forgiveness, that was availed to us in Christ upon that cross.

On self investigation, looking at the self within; ask then this question: Am I for Christ, or for myself?

Shalom

John 17:1-26 KJV

[1] These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: [2] as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. [3] And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. [4] I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. [5] And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. [6] I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. [7] Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee. [8] For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. [9] I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. [10] And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. [11] And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. [12] While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. [13] And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. [14] I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. [15] I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. [16] They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. [17] Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. [18] As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. [19] And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. [20] Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; [21] that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. [22] And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: [23] I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. [24] Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. [25] O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. [26] And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Note for 20241220

Hear the prayer of Christ, that you may know by His own words, what His heart is for you. Does He pray for the World, or those that The Father has given Him? It is in The Father’s Hand to give, for He made all, and when He had made it, He declared that it was good. Of man; He said it was very good. (Genesis 1)

When the enemy of GOD stepped onto the scene, he that rebelled against the Throne of GOD, bringing corruption into the world. Yes, like sowing the seed of Tares in amongst the wheat of GOD. And now, it has come to harvest time and the Angels of GOD will separate the wheat from the tares. To the threshing floor the wheat is taken, to separate it from the chaff, even as the sheep will be separated from the goats. All are not the same, for some stand in rebellion to GOD, just as their father stands against GOD. Listen here how Jesus prays for us, that we will be spared. All of us, that believe He is the Son of GOD the Creator, that The Father is in Him and He is in the Father, even that by our faith in Him, that we may be one with GOD. That we may be where Christ is, that is part of what Christ prayed here for us.

Now you know the intention of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and Who He is. Furthermore, you can know who you may become in Him. This is the message that I must bring to all, the Love of Christ for us and His work that He has done to save us. Read for yourself then here, that Christ prayed to His Father, and our Father, that the work He had to do was done. So, the work that He has left for us to do, that is left to be done. As the Father sent Him, so He sent us.

When our work here is done, then shall we be gathered unto Christ, even ascend to Him in Heaven. Until then, both He and The Father will make their abode in us, to be with us, by the Holy Spirit that is poured out in us. By the Holy Spirit are we joined to the LORD, and also to one another.

Now you know. You have heard. Will you then believe that GOD is for you, that Christ prayed for you and intends to bring you to Him where He is.

Selah, Shalom
