The House of Bread · Note for 20250518 – The Gospel of Jesus Christ – Part 115 – Luke 22 – The Big Picture Moment

Luke 22:1-71 KJV

[1] Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. [2] And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people. [3] Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. [4] And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. [5] And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. [6] And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.  [7] Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. [8] And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. [9] And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? [10] And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. [11] And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? [12] And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. [13] And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. [14] And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. [15] And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: [16] for I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. [17] And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: [18] for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. [19] And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [20] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. [21]  But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. [22] And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! [23] And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. [24] And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. [25] And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. [26] But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. [27] For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. [28] Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. [29] And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; [30] that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. [31] And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: [32] but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. [33] And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. [34] And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. [35] And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. [36] Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. [37] For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. [38] And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.  [39] And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. [40] And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. [41] And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, [42] saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. [43] And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. [44] And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. [45] And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, [46] and said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.  [47] And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. [48] But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? [49] When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? [50] And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. [51] And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. [52] Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves? [53] When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.  [54] Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Peter followed afar off. [55] And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them. [56] But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. [57] And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. [58] And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. [59] And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilæan. [60] And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. [61] And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. [62] And Peter went out, and wept bitterly. [63] And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. [64] And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? [65] And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.  [66] And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, [67] Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: [68] and if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. [69] Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. [70] Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. [71] And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Note for 20250518

There are so many things that we as mankind consider important, which really has very little influence on where we are going. For each of us, there is a “big picture moment” that exceeds all we have ever done and said. For years, Judas walked with Jesus as one of the twelve, but this here, the betrayal by a kiss, is what he will forever be remembered for, as long as memory of this world will last.

The Last Supper has been the inspiration for many over all the years. We think of the painting of Leonardo Da Vinci, but really, the inspiration comes more secure, when we come to the Lord’s table in communion. Our lives are weighed on this balancing point, what is our “Big Picture” moment? For some it is the accolades given by a man’s peers, recognitions of the greatness of mankind. For the believer, it is here, from this supper to the cross, and the resurrection that awaits all. Yes, indeed, all will be resurrected, some to condemnation and some to eternal life with Christ.

All of us have walked a path similar to either Judas or Peter at some point in time. What did our regret drive us too, a lie for obscurity or exposure to be judged as we repent? Have we sold out friends, what have we done to the least of these, who was it done to then? All of us, in some way, are guilty of sin. While none of us can afford to cast a stone, as we live in houses of glass that easily shatter into a million pieces; still deliverance stands for us in the Blood of Jesus Christ, if only we can believe.

We can look at the life of Jesus Christ, verse-by-verse we can walk with Him as we read. Each moment of His life on Earth as it was witnessed by those with Him. Some moments are more profound to some than others. Still the account is there, from birth in Bethlehem to His ascension, and all will be dwarfed in an instance, when our Lord Comes in His Full Glory, to redeem us back to GOD. We can learn to know where we come from, our lives can be inspected in great detail, and still is that but a shadow that can be cast aside in the Light of Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:13-15 KJV

[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. [14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? [15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Luke 21:1-38 KJV

[1] And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. [2] And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. [3] And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: [4] for all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.  [5] And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, [6] As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. [7] And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass? [8] And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. [9] But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. [10] Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: [11] and great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. [12] But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. [13] And it shall turn to you for a testimony. [14] Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: [15] for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. [16]  And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. [17] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. [18] But there shall not an hair of your head perish. [19] In your patience possess ye your souls. [20]  And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. [21] Then let them which are in Judæa flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. [22] For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. [23] But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. [24] And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. [25]  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26] men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. [27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. [28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.  [29] And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; [30] when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. [31] So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. [32] Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. [33] Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. [34]  And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. [35] For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. [36] Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.  [37] And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. [38] And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

How many sermons have you heard of this passage and of Matthew 24? Forget not how the widow cast all of her living in the treasury and received the attention of Jesus Christ.

Daniel 7:25 KJV

[25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

https://bible.com/bible/1/dan.7.25.KJV

Like so many have done before me, once more, I bring it too again. Know the seasons and the times for it is written here that this generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. What is often missed though, is this:

Luke 21:17-19 KJV

[17] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake. [18] But there shall not an hair of your head perish. [19] In your patience possess ye your souls.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.21.17-19.KJV

What shall you possess? Is your soul confined to the flesh forever? Can the flesh enter into the Kingdom of GOD? Look up, for your redemption draws near. The words, “as a thief in the night,” “in a moment we think not,” so will the coming of the Son of man be. Then I look around me, and I have an expectation in my heart, thinking, will I be caught unaware too? I have kept the watch to the best of my ability, and know what is impossible for man, GOD can perform. There is no doubt in me, we are living in this very end time that Christ spoke of here. It is clear to me, how many are expectant in this moment, even amongst the godless. They are awaiting their champion. They speak of peace and security and have I not spoken on how ready all is for the season to come in? Then again, “a time when ye think not” rings in me. I wonder, just how much of this we will see and if we are ready to the point that our hearts will not fail for what we see come upon the earth. Have I cast all of my substance to the treasury of GOD? Who is ready at any moment to receive the LORD? Am I?

I am a cautious man. I weigh my words in deep consideration. How often do I still fail? May the LORD have mercy on them that year for His righteousness to come. Like the boy that cry wolf, I often feel. And yet, I know the wolf is coming at some point in time and the season seem ripe for it. So while I know not the day or hour, I proclaim, this is the season in which a wolf may come. Shall the hirelings run and the sheep be scattered? Will I have to run, after all, I am not in Judea? I share with you some of my consideration, as I keep the watch as I have been instructed. Have I been instructed alone? Are there not more watchmen on the wall? I cannot say my Lord delayith His coming, all I see is evidence of His Amazing Grace, Who keep open the door unto Salvation, so more can come in. I know the watch is in me, to guard my souls countenance and to be comforted by The Holy Spirit of GOD.

Last night, before I went to sleep, once more I did a deep dive into some matters regarding the formation of the beast system. The season appears to be ripe, my friends. It almost feels redundant to say, “any moment from now on,” for the day and hour still evades us. So, what is left but to be ready at every moment, with our “Spiritual Bags” packed. Oh! It is an inner-check! A searching out for the log in my own eye, and that is the message that I wish to bring to you today. It is the message of oil for the lamp. From what I see, it still appears a little early, but then I ponder on the unseen. What meetings have been held behind closed doors. For the leaders speak while they sit at a table, but sit at a table too when they go for tea. So much written off as coincidence, while I have learned that coincidence is not a kosher word. Who has the Lord called out to in the middle of the night, who did He instruct, to keep the watch?

So I speak in prose at this time, left with a library’s worth of unspoken words and a prayer in my heart, that the warning has been heard. For some, today, as it has been before for others, the sun will not set on them this day, and keep their breath in them. Far too soon, by the considerations of carnal minds, the end of this life comes for many who met it unaware. Their view was always on foreign horizons, but never did they glance back into their own soul. So, the watch begins at home, even within us, as logs are found and carried out in a purging. Self-control, the method used, to spring-clean the soul. As a child in the backseat of the car, I pose the question, “Are we there yet?”

Luke 20:1-47 KJV

[1] And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, [2] and spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? [3] And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: [4] The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? [5] And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? [6] But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. [7] And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was. [8] And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.  [9] Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. [10] And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty. [11] And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. [12] And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out. [13] Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. [14] But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be our’s. [15] So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? [16] He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. [17] And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, The same is become the head of the corner? [18]  Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.  [19] And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. [20] And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. [21] And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly: [22] Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or no? [23] But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? [24] Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cæsar’s. [25] And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s. [26] And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.  [27] Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, [28] saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. [29] There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children. [30] And the second took her to wife, and he died childless. [31] And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died. [32] Last of all the woman died also. [33] Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. [34] And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: [35] but they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: [36] neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. [37] Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. [38] For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.  [39] Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. [40] And after that they durst not ask him any question at all. [41] And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David’s son? [42] And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, [43]  Till I make thine enemies thy footstool. [44]  David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son? [45] Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, [46] Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; [47] which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

Note for 20250515

Do I bring one line of scripture to you alone? Should you pay tribute? You have the answer of the Lord Jesus Christ right here. But what is it that you must render to GOD, that is His? You pay your taxes, some even as much as 40%, what does the Lord require of you? Does the LORD have need for your money, or is it that there might be bread in His House? For who is that bread to eat? How many of you have made a study of tithing, or did you stop at Malachi 3:10? Did you bring it for the poor to eat, or that GOD may bless you?

What have you learned of those that are like these Pharisees and scribes, the chiefs of the people? Why must man always put himself between GOD and men? Is there a resurrection according to Jesus Christ? What will our nature be then? The Jews ate at the Temple of the Holy Meat, so they brought the sacrifices to be burned upon the Altar. What is written, did GOD consume His portion or did His priests? Was the tithe for the priests, or was it for the widows and the orphans? Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is His. Is it not written to give to the poor is as to lend to GOD? Shall I bring up Matthew 25:40 once again?

What of what Christ said here in our reading do you disagree with? The ruling class of that day, the Pharisees and scribes and the chiefs of the people could not move against Christ because of the Word He gave and for fear of the people. You have read it now, over and over again. Who is it that seeks the chief position in the market places, who thinks themselves better than ordinary folk? Who makes the long prayers and wears apparel for respect? Is it not still a practice in the courts? Do we not have named brands that set apart the rich from the poor? Who makes long speeches? May GOD have mercy on me if I have made myself guilty of the same, for He knows my heart.

This past Sunday, I listened to a sermon online. To be fully transparent, I could not listen to all for the departure from the Word of GOD. I could not just let it be, so I commented with Bible verses. Yes, friends, I quoted scripture from the Word of GOD. Would you believe me if I report to you that my comments were deleted? Bible verses, removed, because it does not fit the lies that were spoken to the people. This from those who love to stand on platforms at centre stage. These that bring the Word to you, and you leave them unchecked. So now, I will give you a scripture:

1 John 4:1 KJV

[1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.4.1.KJV

Do you believe all that man says? For this reason they craft their sermons, reluctant to give glory to Jesus Christ. Do you think a wicked man can not say the Name of our Lord? Just hear them when they bump their toe, or get a fright.

2 Peter 2:1-3 KJV

[1] But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. [2] And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. [3] And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

https://bible.com/bible/1/2pe.2.1-3.KJV

Shall I keep my silence? Shall I be silenced? How many witnesses did the law require? I have two.

Friends, did I withhold any verse here in our reading from you? Have you not stood witness when I said, don’t follow me, read for yourself? How will you try what is being said to you, if you do not have anything to try it against? Have I not included all of the Word for you as I share it? And for the same reason I urge you to go and expand the verses quoted here that you may find more. 1 John 4 will tell you how to tell if someone is of GOD and 2 Peter 2 will tell you who they are that are not of GOD. And here is where discernment is needed, for we do not have Pharisees and scribes today as they were named then, and the priests have become Pastors and Reverends in our time. But, even just a quick chat with most of them, they themselves will admit that many false teachers have come in. Am I to honour man or GOD, listen to the doctrines of a man or the doctrine of Jesus Christ? Why do you think this series is called, the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

Friends, you do not have to hear me, but hear the Lord Jesus Christ, please. For many stand at the pulpit proclaiming crafted words of man. We live in a time of high deception. Why can’t you raise your hand to ask a question in church? Will you be cast out? Because my comments of Bible verses were deleted from the record, they may as well have torn it out of the Bible.

It is not all congregations friends, and do not use this as an excuse not to attend the congregation of the saints, for that is required of us too. If the church becomes corrupt, for the sake of vain men and women, who then shall keep the sheep of GOD? So they stand in all their denominations, decided by the opinions of mankind. They congregate in brick buildings, but deny one another in the Spirit. Are we not united in Jesus Christ then?

What to do? But, put it far from me to bring division, I yearn for unity in Jesus Christ. I yearn for Righteousness in Jesus Christ. What to do then, when the leaders have gone astray? Was this not the case in the time of Christ too? Then the church of men has become ripe for judgment by GOD, may He have mercy on His Children.

This conversation is not done. It cannot be done until correction comes. But, for now, I leave the matter at the Throne of GOD, for the Sake of His Children. Who then will believe a lie? Who will walk after a lie and reward it? Who will say Godspeed to a liar?

2 John 1:9-11 KJV

[9] Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. [10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: [11] for he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Luke 19:1-48 KJV

[1] And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. [2] And, behold, there was a man named Zacchæus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. [3] And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. [4] And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. [5] And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. [6] And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. [7] And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. [8] And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. [9] And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. [10] For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. [11] And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.  [12] He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. [13] And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. [14] But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. [15] And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. [16] Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. [17] And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. [18] And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. [19] And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. [20] And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: [21] for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. [22] And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: [23] wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? [24] And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. [25] (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) [26] For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. [27] But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.   [28] And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem. [29] And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, [30] saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. [31] And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. [32] And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them. [33] And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? [34] And they said, The Lord hath need of him. [35] And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. [36] And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way. [37] And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; [38] saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. [39] And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. [40] And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. [41] And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, [42] saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. [43] For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, [44] and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.  [45] And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; [46] saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. [47] And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, [48] and could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

Note for 20250514

If it was possible, it would have pleased me if I could hear your comments on the reading today. I suppose the more interesting thing would have been your response if something likewise happened for you to see. I am speaking on how Christ went in to the house of this short publican and the murmuring of the crowd.

Like we have seen the past few days, once more here, we have a chapter that is rich in events and teachings by the Lord. Just like then, there are matters that many, including myself have spoken about before. For effect alone, I can say, “pounds have been handed out before.” For many, their resources have been strengthened over-and-over when they were found wanting. What has the profit been of the investments? Over what shall you be given reign? Will you be brought high or will you be ashamed?

You see, he that did not make gains with what he was given lost what he had, while those that murmured against this austere man, who would not have him reign over them were killed. You have to consider the context in which the parable was shared. I hope that I have accomplished that by the use of words. Who murmured against the Lord Jesus Christ here, and why?

Who was intrigued by the fact that Christ simply called the publican by name? This man was so short he had to get in a tree to see Christ. Yet, Christ singled him out and went to dine at his house. As a publican, he was a tax collector, is it then a surprise that Christ use pounds in His parable? Who was it that murmured?

I suppose you can compare this to if a Pastor would have gone to eat with an unpopular politician today. Who would murmur? Who would gossip in disapproval? Or maybe, the Pastor went to eat with a known thief, or corrupt official; what would be said then? Maybe, he has gone into a gentleman’s club, what would the tumors be then?

Let us look at some verses we read today:

Luke 19:7 KJV

[7] And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.19.7.KJV

Luke 19:9-10 KJV

[9] And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. [10] For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.19.9-10.KJV

Let us also look at the conclusion of the parable Jesus spoke:

Luke 19:27 KJV

[27] But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.19.27.KJV

I ask you again, who was slain according to the parable and those that it was spoken to by comparison? Who murmurs against those that are set apart by GOD? How do you find and save the lost, if not going in to eat with sinners? Where else would you find the sinner? But I say, woe unto that servant who enters into a crowd of sinners to seek occasion to sin again. His fate would be worse than those he claimed to go and find.

You know, with what I do on a daily basis, I speak to groups and groups of people. Did you know that you can speak to a hoard of people and only have one or a few truly hear you? While the rest may not murmur against you, many have another form of trouble that counts against them. They give all appearances that they have heard, they stand and sit together, they raise their hands and speak along, while their minds are set apart to ponder on unholy things. You also have those that murmur no further than a thought. Their lips are sealed, but they stand in disagreement. These are the groups of people, divided up by the contents of their heart, unseen by man, but known to GOD. Who is it that would not have Christ rule over them? They say the right words, they go along with the flow of people, doing well with well doers and doing evil with the wicked. They are known to Him that will return to judge this World.

John 10:16 KJV

[16] And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.10.16.KJV

We are to remember the Words of Jesus Christ, and here is something you might have wondered about. Was Zacchaeus one of these? Did Christ not call us to continue with His work? What is it that can be said or done that will offend you to the point of murmuring? Maybe this, considering that Christ said that Zacchaeus was a son of Abraham:

Matthew 15:24 KJV

[24] But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.15.24.KJV

Read John 10:16 again, and then consider this:

John 10:4-5, 27-30 KJV

[4] And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. [5] And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

[27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: [28] and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. [29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. [30] I and my Father are one.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.10.4-30.KJV

Man is reluctant to hear the truth, they murmur far too soon. And before the truth can be revealed to them, they walk off in offense. So, if you are still here, unoffended and not murmuring, here are some verses for your comfort.

Galatians 3:6-9 KJV

[6] Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. [7] Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. [8] And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. [9] So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

https://bible.com/bible/1/gal.3.6-9.KJV

Galatians 3:29 KJV

[29] And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

https://bible.com/bible/1/gal.3.29.KJV

Romans 4:16 KJV

[16] Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.4.16.KJV

Who are the murmuring crowd then, and who would not have Christ rule over them? So the goats are separated from the sheep. They cannot hear Christ Jesus, for He is not their Shepherd. No! They hear the voice of another that is full of offense and rebellion. They cannot obey the Lord, because they serve another. The separation is by Faith in Jesus Christ.

John 3:16-18 KJV

[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.3.16-18.KJV

Even though you eat bread slice by slice, would you not want to eat the whole loaf that is offered to you? In other words, don’t you want to know the full truth in Jesus Christ?

Luke 18:1-43 KJV

[1] And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; [2] saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: [3] and there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. [4] And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; [5] yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. [6] And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. [7] And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? [8] I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? [9] And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: [10] Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. [11] The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. [12] I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. [13] And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. [14] I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.  [15] And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. [16] But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. [17] Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.  [18] And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? [19] And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. [20] Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. [21] And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. [22] Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. [23] And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. [24] And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! [25] For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. [26] And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? [27] And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.  [28] Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. [29] And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake, [30] who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.  [31] Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. [32] For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: [33] and they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. [34] And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.  [35] And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: [36] and hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. [37] And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. [38] And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. [39] And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. [40] And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, [41] saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. [42] And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. [43] And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

What Say You

When I was guided by the Lord to speed up my progress through the Gospel of Jesus Christ and read a chapter at a time, this was my concern, though I complied; that the contents of these chapters would exceed what I could cover in one session at a time. Nonetheless, that is what I was instructed to do. Today we have a few parables, healing and a certainty that GOD will avenge us, as we cry to Him. Amongst all of this, there is also where Christ says that He will fulfill all of what is written of the Son of man on the third day. Once more, I have to affirm that I am aware of the third day teaching, also of how it speaks to Christ’s return. Of all that is prophesied, all that is written of that time, none strikes more fear into my heart for GOD than this passage:

Luke 18:7-8 KJV

[7] And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? [8] I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.18.7-8.KJV

I have not kept this a secret, I often speak on it, but, in context, still not enough. Now, I must admit that what I take away from this, I have not heard any others speak about outright. Still, there is this concern in me for the state of man at the end, that Christ indicates, what seems as a doubt, that He will find faith on the earth.

Friends, you have heard sermons on the parables and healing contained in this chapter since you were young. Who has not heard that those who exalt themselves will be brought low and the humble be raised? Who hasn’t heard that Christ healed the blind, lame and deaf, or freed the captive and raised the dead?

As we consider the return of Jesus Christ, even here on what many call the approach of the third day, still I have concern for all in the hearing of these words again. When the Son of man returns will He find faith on earth?

Surely at this time there is faith on earth, not? Don’t we hear of the claims of thousands upon thousands coming to repentance often now? With all the signs of the times being in clear view, and many who claim to believe in Jesus Christ, in this, my heart is troubled because something is amiss. Either the time is not yet, yet can I not say my Lord delays His coming; or, the faith that remains is not pure by the Standards of GOD. In reflection then, is the faith in me, the faith in you, worthy to receive the Lord?

You see, I have noticed something of mankind, we justify ourselves. It is our belief we trust in, not Jesus Christ. Is our faith not meant to be in Jesus Christ and not all the doctrines man has dreamt up? So, while there may be much I can write on today, none lies closer to my heart for our sakes, than to consider this statement of the Lord. Will He find faith in me when he returns? Is that fear of the Lord? So have I taken you along on my journey through the Gospels. We have read the words of the Apostles, though we are few that do. You see, I have also seen how mankind has adapted the Gospel to fit their own comforts in heart.

If man wants to be rich, he hears only prosperity teachings. If he lusts, he says GOD will understand, for Christ suffered for us in the flesh. When he wants to lay with another man, he says that he was made wrong, or skews the relationship between Jesus and John, David and Jonathan. If he gambles, he says that even the Israelite casted lots, and the adulterers say Jacob had many wives. And so I can go on and on, but each time I return to this one question that the Lord left to us, will He find faith in the earth when He returns? Or shall I ask, faith in what? Or rather, Who determines what is right? Does it weigh on the balance of a vote? I watch man with sorrow in my heart, for so much of what they believe, I haven’t read of the Word of GOD. They take the tithes, but neglect the widows and the fatherless, they congregate, but lack in love for one another. Compassion and pity seems to be absent, together with charity and care. All I see, mostly, is concern for self. Man holds fast to his own opinions and neglects the Word of GOD. They care about the description “Christian” as if it is a family name, something they have inherited and show no change. I see trees without leaves or fruit, decorated with shiny things, but winter at the heart. Then I question myself in reminder of hypocrisy, is that just my opinion?

I have shouted loud, I have cried and pleaded with GOD, praying, forgive them Father, for they know not what they do. And still does this remain, man will do as he pleases. And rightly so, each of us must choose for ourselves, GOD gave us the right to choose, but so will the result of our choices come. Will it be our way, or GOD’S?

Now this remains for us to this day, how does the Words of Christ shame us within? Is faith yet alive in us? For it is my prayer that Christ will find faith in the earth at His return. If I may offer up some advice, my friends, try your heart everyday if it remains on Christ. Seek the Lord your GOD in all you do, and He will carry you through it all.

Friends, to judge what we hear and see, if it be good or evil, we need something to measure it against. Now, you can measure that by what you’ve heard, or you can read the standards for yourself in the Word of GOD. In the end, what say you? For that is the measure of your faith.

Selah, Shalom

Revelation 12:11-12 KJV

[11] And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. [12] Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Luke 17:1-37 KJV

[1] Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! [2] It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. [3]  Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. [4] And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. [5] And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. [6] And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. [7] But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? [8] And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? [9] Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. [10] So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.  [11] And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. [12] And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: [13] and they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. [14] And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. [15] And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, [16] and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. [17] And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? [18] There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. [19] And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.  [20] And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: [21] neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. [22] And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. [23] And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. [24] For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. [25] But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. [26]  And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. [27] They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. [28] Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; [29] but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. [30] Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. [31]  In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. [32] Remember Lot’s wife. [33] Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. [34] I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. [35] Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [36] Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [37] And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Note for 20250512

Today is a substantial amount to consider, not so much in verses as what is said therein. Christ spoke on matters by bringing them in a likeness to what was known. In that, there is a sense that those who are unfamiliar on the matters of Noah and the flood and Lot and his wife may lack depth of what was said. Also, those that lack knowledge of who the Samaritans were, and why Christ called the man a stranger, though through his belief he was healed. The Disciples understood, because they asked Jesus to increase their faith. When will these things be and what will it be like?

You know, each time I read through a section of the Word I learn more each time? To the point that it becomes harder and harder to relay, because first I must reestablish what was learned before, so that what was added may be carried over. But, I am often given relief on this by the Holy Spirit, knowing that as GOD has added unto me, He will add unto you. Woe though to the one who looks back, never learning where salvation has come from. It will be like the days of Noah and Lot, do you understand? If you want to know, should you not reference it?

For The account of Noah and the Flood, refer back to Genesis 6-9. For the account of Lot and the destruction that came to Sodom, read Genesis 19, a chapter before and after can help to bring some context, even of how GOD communicated with Abraham in this regard. The sheer volume of text to reference in this regard prevents me from dealing with it here in just one session. As Christ spoke here, he spoke to those who knew of these matters and so should we know of it to understand. It requires a full understanding of the relevance. So must we become ready having knowledge of these things to understand what is coming. If not, then our hearts might just fail for what we see come upon the earth. Fire and Brimstone, floods and earthquakes in diverse places, extreme and worse than has ever been or will be again. And still, there is even more, including the ignorance of those that stood in the way of such danger.

Now, I have to focus on something out of this scripture, since I can not discuss it all, for I fall short in time. So, I would like us to look at something that sets the tone for all that is said in this chapter.

Luke 17:3 KJV

[3]  Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.17.3.KJV

You see, if you cannot forgive one another, then you are unprepared. What do we learn in the Lord’s prayer? That we will be forgiven as we forgive one another. Tell me: Is there a requirement of repentance? Selah. (Consider deeply what you just heard)

You see, the LORD is just and fair. By your own works will you be judged, as you judge, so will you be judged. If you live by the sword, then you shall die by the sword. And eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Mercy unto the merciful, that will be true too. But, it is by the heart that man will be judged, so pretense is in vain. If you speak of love but hate in your heart, your hypocrisy will separate you from your salvation. So, it is the heart that must be prepared.

Psalm 4:3-4 KJV

[3] But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: The LORD will hear when I call unto him. [4] Stand in awe, and sin not: Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.4.3-4.KJV

This is what I read last night before I went to sleep. Of all I read, this was the only two verses that I was led by the Holy Spirit to single out in highlight. So too, was I only reminded of it just now. Do you think David, who knew the Holy Spirit, knew something about conditioning his heart? Is David not known for his repenting heart?

Okay, so a lot has been said. As best I can, I will attempt to bring it into focus. You prepare by preparing your heart, so that it will not fail you in the hour of your distress. The preparation is to know the LORD, and that you are known of Him. And yes, I do indeed mean known in conversation. We can not come before the Lord in hypocrisy. He knows it all. Is there then a need for me to remind you that this is not the only time the LORD speaks on forgiveness?

Luke 23:34 KJV

[34] Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.23.34.KJV

Now, while this is not the only other time, it is the time that has made the greatest impact on me. (I can only give from what I received.) Tell me, in this account, was there repentance before Christ prayed for them? And I put it to you, that in this moment, Christ prayed for all of mankind. For so many of mankind truly stands in a severe “unknowing” state of mind. Note, this prayer only covers those who do not know. Can you repent of what you do not know? Likewise, if you know, should you then not be required to repent. Now, we can not argue that someone had to know, for it is impossible for us to know this truth, unless the Lord reveals it to us.

Acts 7:59-60 KJV

[59] And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. [60] And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

https://bible.com/bible/1/act.7.59-60.KJV

Friends, do you think Stephen understood this? In the final moments of his life, he pleads with GOD for those that came against him. Did they repent? Well, one did that we know of, and that is Paul, who stood in witness, holding the garments of those who were stoning Stephen.

Friends, it is all about an honest heart before the Lord your God and, of course, forgiveness in Jesus Christ. This is not something that can be faked before the Throne of GOD. Only those that received forgiveness in Christ can comprehend what it is about. “Lay not this sin to their charge.” Stephen forgave them of that one charge, the rest was on them. Do you understand? Love covers a multitude of sin. As we judge, so will we be judged. Yes, even in the time of the judgment of GOD, what we are introduced to here and will soon learn more of. The day of the Lord.

Selah, Shalom

Luke 16:1-31 KJV

[1] And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. [2] And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. [3] Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. [4] I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. [5] So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? [6] And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. [7] Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. [8] And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. [9] And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. [10] He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. [11] If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? [12] And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? [13] No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [14] And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. [15] And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. [16] The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. [17] And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. [18] Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.  [19]  There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: [20] and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, [21] and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. [22] And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; [23] and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. [24] And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. [25] But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. [26] And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. [27] Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: [28] for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. [29] Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. [30] And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. [31] And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Note for 20250511

Ye are They

Luke 16:15 KJV

[15] And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

There is no “soft-landing” message in this chapter. You know, when you are lost you first need to realize that you are lost, else you are still convicted of your direction. You justify yourself, thinking that you have not gone wrong in the directions. Far more foolish is the one who says to himself, “I need no direction,” or “I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.” You see, the Rich Man had no bridge to cross, my friends. The end destination was determined on the way with a “no turning back” result at the end. Hell has a “no returns” policy.

Shall I speak of Mammon? How, you can not serve both GOD and Mammon? Is there a need for me to speak on this verse:

Luke 16:9 KJV

[9] And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

Or, do you understand that these everlasting habitations are explained by the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus? These are the end destinations of mankind.

You see, you cannot be on the way of Mammon and unrighteousness and be on the way to Christ. Sure, it is tricky to look at, but at the core it speaks of love to what? Who is it that you love above all? You may think I will ask you, is it Mammon or Jesus Christ, but the more apt question is: Is it you or Jesus Christ? Do you love GOD with all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your strength and all of your soul, and your neighbour as yourself? Who do you care for first, right now? Do you justify yourself, or is it Christ that justifies you? These are huge questions today? Questions that we ought to ask of ourselves at every moment. Who am I living for?

Luke 16:31 KJV

[31] And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Do you know of One that rose from the dead, have you heard His testimony? Or, shall I ask you this, have you heard of another that also rose from the dead? Was Lazarus not brought back by Christ too? Did the people not come from far to hear him too? Was the Pharisees and scribes not concerned about his message too? And right here, the need for knowledge of the testimonies of Christ comes into full focus, because even Lazarus would have to testify of Jesus Christ. Was he not in the grave 4 days already?

The question that lingers in me now, did GOD permit someone to come back and warn us in line with the rich man’s request? I wonder if his brothers heard? But, that is less important now than this question: have you?

Then, is it not in my testimony that I have died? Yes, I know it was brief, but still, did I not escape death too? In Christ, did we not all lay down our lives with Him in the grave? Do we not proclaim that we are reborn? Shall I take it one more step further? Do we not preach life unto the dead? Are we not the Light of Jesus Christ in a dark world? Do we not walk in the valley of the shadow of death? What is the penalty of sin? Who paid that price for us?

Friends, it is my hope that in reading that you will see, in hearing that you will hear. No flesh can enter the Kingdom of GOD (1 Corinthians 15:50.) Are we not to receive life in Christ here and now? Did Christ not say, let the dead bury the dead? If you live for the flesh, you live unto death; if you live after the Spirit, you are living unto more life. To put it simply, you choose right here and now, every day. There is no bridge to cross from death to life once you have reached the end destination already. There is a gulf without a bridge at the end. You choose now. Who shall then say, “a little more slumber, a little more sleep?” Did Christ not say, “The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak?”

Have you got any idea how much grace GOD has shown that you are yet alive to make that choice? If you still have breath in you, then there is still hope, for me and for you. If you still have breath, then GOD still hopes that you will make the right choice at some point. But, if you cannot even consider it at this moment, who knows how long you will still breathe? Just yesterday I heard a report of a young man who died of a heart attack, in his twenties? Whether you hear me or not, time is running out for all, breath by breath.

Do not leave things to chance. There is no bridge to cross at the end, you choose here and now, today. If you walk blindly, you won’t stumble into heaven. No! To reach the Kingdom of GOD you need to follow the directions of the Lord Jesus Christ. In all things, you need his instruction. Do not attempt to justify yourselves, for only in Jesus Christ are we justified unto eternal life with Him.

Selah, Shalom

The House of Bread · Note for 20250509 – The Gospel of Jesus Christ – Part 108 – Luke 14 – Saints and Sinners

Luke 15:1-32 KJV

[1] Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. [2] And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.  [3] And he spake this parable unto them, saying, [4] What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? [5] And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. [6] And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. [7] I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.  [8]  Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? [9] And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. [10] Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.  [11] And he said, A certain man had two sons: [12] and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. [13] And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. [14] And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. [15] And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. [16] And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. [17] And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! [18] I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, [19] and am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. [20] And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. [21] And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. [22] But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: [23] and bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: [24] for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. [25] Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. [26] And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. [27] And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. [28] And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. [29] And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: [30] but as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. [31] And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. [32] It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

Note for 20250509

Two days ago, I was under the weather with a bug familiar to the change of season. It is at that time when it was pressed on my heart to pick up the pace of this series we are busy with. Now, for a long time I have also said, it is about the scriptures, not my notes, and yet, for them that could hear, I am sure that there came conformations too. So today, the entire chapter Luke 15. I feel comfortable with picking up the pace, after all, we have covered the books of John and Mark already.

These parables Christ shares here are familiar to us, surely all of you know of the lost son, coin and sheep. Sure, we can look at the joy proclaimed over that which was found that was lost. We can look into depth again. Of the lost son, and how the merciful father received him back. We can even look at how these parables resemble the sinners that the Pharisees and scribes looked down upon. All of that, I am sure you have heard before.

Today, I would like to look at those who took part in the spoil of the young man’s riches. Yes, even to the citizen to whom the son bound himself in labour, like a slave. Working but still falling short in need for eating his daily Bread. How might the father look at those who ate the substance of his son? If he would have to come and judge them? Now surely, we would have to speculate? That is, until we understand what this portrays. You see, this parable does not speak of judgment, but if the lost son portrays the sinner, we know what will happen to the godless at Christ’s return. Furthermore, we have read of the White Throne judgment, even all of Revelation and prophecies. The question I have for you to consider on this day, is how we might play a part in the agony of the lost children of the Most High GOD? Did we eat their substance? Did we refuse them help?

Usually I would point you again to read Matthew 25:31-46 again, but for today, let us hear what John the Baptist testifies of Jesus Christ in Matthew 3:

Matthew 3:11-12 KJV

[11] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: [12] whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Of course, for a much clearer picture, we can read Revelation 20:11-15 for the White Throne judgment. But, it really is throughout the Bible, whenever we read of the righteous and the wicked, even how Christ said that we will be judged according to our works. We have become so accustomed in our modern time to look at others and point with our fingers at their shame. My question today is, what would we look like, if the fingers are pointed at us? Are we not sinners too?

You see, the Lord left us with an instruction that we should love one another, even as Christ has loved us. What covers a multitude of sin? I want to share another verse with you, but preempt it with a reminder that we will be judged according to how we judge others: (Luke 6:37 & Matthew 7:1)

John 20:22-23 KJV

[22] And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: [23] whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

Do you consider us ready yet? Aren’t we all guilty of the same? That being sin? Did Christ just come for you and me?

John 1:29 KJV

[29] The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

We know that a time is coming when there will be no more sin, not? Now some will be washed clean in repentance, and what about the sinners that do not repent? Is that not dealt with above too? But sin will be no more. If we then cleave unto sin, then the lake of fire is awaiting. If we repent, Christ has paid the price of sin in our stead and we are forgiven. But sin, and the wicked, will be no more.

Remember, Christ came for the sinners. Like a doctor who goes to the sick, Christ came for us. How then, do we treat the lost sheep of Christ?

Selah, Shalom.

Verse of The Day

From the YouVersion Bible App (Extended from verse 14)

John 13:13-17 KJV

[13] Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. [14] If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. [15] For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. [16] Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. [17] If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

The House of Bread · Note for 20250508 – The Gospel of Jesus Christ – Part 107 – Luke 14 – Counting Costs

Luke 14:25-35 KJV

[25] And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, [26] If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. [27] And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. [28] For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? [29] Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, [30] saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. [31] Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? [32] Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. [33] So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. [34]  Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? [35] It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Note for 20250508

I know, this is one of the harder messages to hear coming from the lips of Jesus. Hating all and following Him. Now, there are translations that soften these words a little, making it as if it must be a love less than what we have for Christ, but then counting the cost section here does not make any form of sense. Now we are to love our neighbour as ourselves, even love our enemies, so what is this here? Is Jesus contradicting Himself? Absolutely not, but He speaks to a reality that the true follower of Christ knows well, how those who used to love you or at least bare with you may turn enemies against you for the sake of the Word that you carry in you.

Counting the costs before you go in, is to see what you may have to part with on the journey, and all of us know what it is like to be unwelcome at family gatherings and how to see others receive invites, while we are looked over. Even at work this happens, not (well, if you live the Word in any way.) Who wants a member on the board, if he is constantly going to complain about the markups being too high and unfair towards the customers? Or that unisex restrooms are not okay? The thing is, that much of this world operates in what some may call “grey areas” while even just a shade is closer to darkness than what it needs to be. Were you warned how difficult life would become once you start following Christ, or are you still in the mainstream following that is more like a “lite-version” of what it should be? Are you ready to part with all you have to follow Christ?

Luke 9:59-60 KJV

[59] And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. [60] Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

This verse we read just recently, do you remember? Even then it seemed harsh, but now it comes more into focus, not? How many of you have been instructed by the Lord to give something away, or to walk away from someone that you love? You know, sometimes somebody else can stand in your way to make Christ your all. Sometimes, you might stand in the way of someone else being led to Christ, as hard as it might be to perceive. Nonetheless, each person that was ever born and those who will still come have the same choice to make, and GOD wants that none be lost and all be saved. What happens when we shelter all the time and prevent the moment of break through for another? Love covers a multitude of sin, remember; and sometimes we cover that which should be uncovered, for repentance to come.

Counting the costs is all about the Kingdom of GOD’S profit. Let’s just say, a partner might not always agree with you, when the LORD says to give. And if you are sent to a foreign country, which spouse will make that trip with you? Who will drop the kids off at school. Just doing what is right in life, can make you a hated character. Let’s put it like this, if you want to sell your car, would you buy it, knowing all about it? Then how do you sell it and remain silent on what is wrong with it. These types of things bring contention into the household and families.

Counting costs, does the Law define what you shouldn’t kill, or does it simply say “Thou shalt not kill?” What about the rest, are mere suggestions? What is theft? Does it include when you say something is worth more than what you had to pay for it? Does it include if you asked for money for one thing, but then used it for something else? The way of Christ is a law abiding way, don’t you know that. Dare I ask, what does this even say about a “white lie?” No, my friends, the way of Christ is black and white, precisely what it says. In that there is only right and wrong. But, it does permit mercy and grace.

Counting costs; did Christ not say that this world would hate you and persecute you? What then, are all these prosperity teachings about? Are we to gather treasures here on earth, or in heaven? When GOD proved Abraham, He requested him to sacrifice his son. What is the greatest commandment?

Counting costs: your faith might bring you to the point of losing your head, your income and yes, even your spouse or children. Is it just in comparison to how we love the LORD? Do you remember the account of Eli and his two sons? And, did David not flee before King Saul?

The version of the Gospel that is being preached today is one that permits luxuries it really shouldn’t. There are matters that are agreed with, that are abominations before the Lord. You know that, surely the Holy Spirit has pointed that out to you. But before we go and judge them, instead of leading them to salvation, how are we making ourselves to be different from the way GOD made us? Do you truly believe that GOD makes mistakes? Because I was only a child when abuse began. Today I am grateful, because I am qualified to speak on matters others have to imagine. You see, I know, I do not have to guess. Maybe now you will understand why I love this verse:

Romans 8:28 KJV

[28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

You see, to me it is not just a verse in the Bible, something someone else wrote, because it is a testimony that resides in me. When I, as a child prayed for wisdom, I was too young to count the costs, I only saw the gain and the prize was out of focus. You see, I wanted to be a great man. It was all about me, just with a Christian flavour. It was about what I wanted to gain.

Luke 14:33 KJV

[33] So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Does this verse resonate with you yet? Is Jesus Christ your treasure? Have you taken up the cross, are you hated for His Name? Have you noticed, some people might be polite with you, but you just know that they hate you. Some you can see that if they could, they would harm you in the most brutal way. Especially if you speak out about their guilt in things. Stand up for the poor, and see how quickly people start dismissing you.

Counting costs is about considering all that may come. Yes, it includes Prophecy, even the time we are now entering in.

The House of Bread · Note for 20250506 – The Gospel of Jesus Christ – Part 106 – Luke 13-14 – An Invitation to Supper

Luke 13:31-35 KJV

[31] The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. [32] And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. [33] Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.  [34]  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! [35] Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Luke 14:1-24 KJV

[1] And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him. [2] And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy. [3] And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? [4] And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; [5] and answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day? [6] And they could not answer him again to these things. [7] And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them, [8] When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him; [9] and he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. [10] But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. [11] For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. [12] Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. [13] But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: [14] and thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. [15] And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. [16] Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: [17] and sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. [18] And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. [19] And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. [20] And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. [21] So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. [22] And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. [23] And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. [24] For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

Note for 20250506

Now you have read briefly of the Lord’s lament over Jerusalem and of all those that were invited to the supper table, but who had excuses. Don’t see this text separately, just because it spans over more than one chapter, the earlier chapter continues on in chapter 14.

Yesterday, we only spoke of the third day’s message briefly, and today it is part of the greater message which is of the Supper Invitation of The Lord. Who can say, I have been called to eat with GOD? I know, it sounds presumptuous, but it is Christ that makes the comparison, not me.

Of course, the three day mission Christ proclaims in Luke 13:31-33 is about His ministry that is completed on the third day, when He is resurrected to the Glory. Victory over sin and death, resurrected to perfection. Once more, I urge you to understand, it is Christ that said it. Now, for those with a deeper study into these things, I am aware of the third day teaching, even how it points to Christ’s reign on earth in Jerusalem. I am aware that we are invited to that supper too, but for now, we are called to communion.

It is here where still so much is misunderstood. The invitation that is open now, which includes inclusion to the greater feast to come. Just a week ago or so, there was a serious conversation in my house regarding this, about how the Hebrew honeymoon is a year long, which is followed by the wedding feast. Which marks a greater understanding needed, as the offer of marriage is made here and now, with a betrothal. Now, I write this to those who have searched these matters out. And yes, in the text today, one of the excuses offered is that a man has taken a wife and could not attend the supper, but that was not the only excuse made. The other two were of earthly gain too. While to some, this may seem cryptic, it is for those that search things out deeply. Who are you married to then? When will the honeymoon be? Is it of the world or of heaven?

However, it does not exclude the obvious. The parable was given with all its levels. And at the core of it, still there is an invitation made. What excuses might be offered up at this time, is there still some series you wish to finish watching? Must the car be serviced and the house be painted before you will have time for GOD? Don’t you know the Holy Bread is eaten with the LORD? Don’t you know it is an intimate event? So we receive our daily Bread. We receive in a separate communion, almost as a meal for two, where the soul of man meets with the Spirit of GOD. Did the Lord not say to remember Him in this way, in the bread and wine? What is sampled then, is it of this world or the one to come?

Jerusalem was invited, but they declined, so the Gentiles too were called in to the supper of the Lamb. Who prepared the meal? Who set its courses? What is it that we must bring in, bread and wine that will satisfy the flesh? Yet, still should we not neglect to invite the Lord to our meals too, for where two or three are gathered in His Name, there He is.

Today, I can not help but sense that I am writing to just a few, maybe even to just one. But friends, don’t you know that there is sufficient at the Lord’s table to satisfy all that has gone hungry or thirsty? What is it that your soul thirst for, is it of this world or of where Christ came from? What shall fill your soul, what will bring it to completion and perfection?

Today, I invite all who hunger and thirst to the supper table of GOD, for I was sent too, to extend His invitation to all I find. There is a place for you, the number is not full yet. Believe me, when it is full, the doors shall be shut. But I urge you, do not make excuses anymore, not for worldly property or pleasure. Take up the invitation of the Lord Jesus Christ and meet Him at the table. For His Water will quench your thirst, His Bread will fill you and give you an increase that you can feed others too.

Now, there is another matter that must be addressed today. And for the sake of understanding I will state it clearly. I know that there are those that say these messages are too long to read or listen to. To use a metaphor from the note today, don’t you know that it takes much more time to prepare the meal than to eat it?

For the immediate: I invite you to find the audio version of this note on YouTube later today, GOD willing. Search for @houseofLechem. It should be available in the next 6 to 8 hours or so. Hey, I told you it takes a long time to prepare it.

Selah, Shalom.
